Notes for parents
You don’t need to be a teacher. Your role is to make room for curiosity, shared attention, and relaxed moments with words.
Invite, don’t quiz
Say “This says DOG” while you point to the card and the family dog. Let your child respond in their own way, or simply listen.
When interest fades
Put the cards away without negotiating for one more turn. Keep the mood light and try again when your child is curious.
Keep stories in the picture
Word cards don’t replace picture books, conversation, or learning letter sounds. Read aloud, talk about pictures, and enjoy the story together.
Notice the small connections
At the end of the day, remember one moment your child connected a word to something real. A glance, a gesture, or a question counts. Compare your child only with their own earlier experiences, not with other children.
